3 Tips for Finding Lost Keys

You can’t always ping your keys unless you have a special device that will help you find them. However, if you don’t have this device, you’ll have to find your lost keys the old-fashioned way.

When you lose your phone, you might panic for a minute before remembering that it is paired with a smartwatch. All you have to do is to activate the ping function, and you should be able to figure out where you misplaced your phone. But when you have lost your keys, you can feel the same feeling of dread. You can’t always ping your keys unless you have a special device that will help you find them. However, if you don’t have this device, you’ll have to find your lost keys the old-fashioned way.

Don’t Panic

No matter what they are for, lost keys can cause you undue stress and anxiety. Although it’s easy to lose your head, the important part is not to panic. It’s bound to happen more than once, so it’s fine if you lose your keys from time to time. Search your pockets, your jacket, or in the glove compartment of your car – anywhere where you might have left your keys and forgotten about them.

Stop and Think

Next, take a minute to think about where you last saw your keys. For example, they might have slid between the cushions of your couch. If you usually put your keys in a glass bowl or plastic bucket but don’t do that one day out of five when you come home from work, that might throw off your routine. Your lost keys aren’t lost – you’ve just put them somewhere different. Check the places you might not think to look when your keys go missing – under the kitchen sink, hidden in a book, stashed in a drawer in your storage room – your keys didn’t get up and walk around by themselves, after all.

Call a Locksmith

Even if you are at wit’s end, stay calm. It’s time to call a professional locksmith. After looking everywhere possible, you might come to find that you have dropped your keys somewhere out in the wide world and you never know who might have them. Under these circumstances, it’s best to call a locksmith who can replace your locks and cut you some new keys to open those locks once they are installed. Once you stop looking for your lost keys, they will come back to you in the most unexpected ways. At least not you’ll have an extra pair to entrust to your spouse or someone else who is close to you.
